Are Any Pubs Open At Appleby Horse Fair?

I bet some of you guys are wondering Are Any Pubs Open At Appleby Horse Fair in 2024? Sadly, not this year according to the media. But I found out the total opposite.

We found out there are a ton of pubs open for our business and lots of ways to buy alcohol so never believe the fake media because the only truthful thing on their rags is the date their rubbish was printed.

Are Any Pubs Open At Appleby Horse Fair

I think all the pubs in and around the local areas of Appleby are all scared to open their doors to us travellers due to the amount of bullshit that the press and the media throw out there in order to scaremonger everyone into making Appleby a success and leave us all to have a great time.Β

Why would you close your doors on us when most of us haven’t done anything wrong or are not criminally minded? I don’t think they know the facts before judging us all to be the same which is just so sad and wrong on many levels and in my view, somewhat unforgivable after all the money that us travellers put into the town of Appleby.

Wouldn’t it make much more sense and show us that some of you do actually care about us travelling folk that you could provide some sort of beer tent or beer truck that could go down a storm? and prove to be really profitable or do you just act on what others say about us? If the latter is true, proves how much of a fool you really are to listen to others without knowing the truth.

All Blame Should Lie With The Organisers For NOT Fighting Our Corner And Helping Matters

If you ask me, all the blame for the breakdown in communication with the pub owners and the traveller community should be aimed at the MASCG and the organisers for not doing enough to help fight our corner and helping to keep businesses open and putting minds at ease by having some sort of common ground and better plan in place to encourage local businesses to step forward, not step away.Β

With MASCG, all they seem to care about is being paid high levels of money and waste a shit load of money on unnecessary amounts of staff on trying to keep the image of Appleby a clean one and focus too much on holding meetings that don’t achieve anything.

The GRT community deserves much more respect from the council-run MASCG and they need to do more to help build more bridges between us and the local people.

Where can I buy and drink alcohol?

The licensed premises in the Appleby and Kirkby Stephen areas who open prior to and during the fair have agreed to operate with restricted hours where premises will open at 12 midday, cease serving at 11pm and close at 11.30pm.Β

Off-licencesΒ have agreed to restrict their opening hours till 10pm daily during the period of the fair and will not sell beer or cider in glass bottles.Β

The off-licences are:

  • Spar at Murgatroyds Garage on North Road in Kirkby Stephen.
  • Spar on High Street in Kirkby Stephen.
  • Co-op on Redmayne Road in Kirkby Stephen.
  • Spar on Boroughgate in Appleby.
  • Co-op on the Sands in Appleby.

On-street drinking will only be allowed to take place on The Sands area of Appleby whilst there is a road closure in place from noon to 6pm.

The Sands is a large area and will provide a safe environment for those who wish to enjoy a drink purchased from the Grapes Inn.

Following the cleaning and re-opening of the Sands, alcohol consumption will not be permitted in the street.

There will be no other areas where on street drinking will be permitted. Any licensed premises which have a beer garden will have a wall or a barrier to define the limit of the drinking areas.

If you do take your drink outside of the licensed area you may find that the licensed premises staff will request that you return to the licensed area.

A Public Spaces Protection Order was introduced in 2018 by the local authority covering Penrith, Alston, Kirkby Stephen and Appleby which allows the police to deal with street drinking likely to cause anti-social behaviour.

People are asked to be aware that those who try to consume alcohol outside of licensed areas may have their alcohol confiscated by the police.Β

Final Thoughts...on Any Pubs Open At Appleby Horse Fair?

So it goes without saying that you never believe any thing the media says on their crap lie boxes because one minute everything is closed, the next I find that lots of pubs are open and there are loads of ways to buy booze.Β

DRINK CAREFULLY AND JUST ENJOY IT WITH A SMILE πŸ™‚ it will be their loss if they close their pubs on us so more fool them if they do.
